What is the role of Anna University in engineering education?
Is it to conduct the annual ritual of conducting entrance examinations every March/April, for the professional colleges.
Is it to make some teachers having to buy even chalk pieces themselves in order to teach?
Is it merely to conduct semester examinations for 225 engineering colleges (with common syllabus but variable question papers and variable valuation) and award degrees?
Is it to partition AU into more and more branches of Anna universities till there will be 225 Anna universities at some stage?
Is it to create more plum posts like vice chancellors?
Is it to conduct a turf war with Director of Technical education and fight about the stewardship of the 6 government engineering colleges?
Is it to beautify Guindy campus landscape while neglecting even toilets in the famous red building?
Is it to squabble (between Vice Chancellor& Pro Chancellor) about banning cell phones?
Wish I knew the answers

is capitation fee illegal?
capitation fee - Is it illegal?
I always presumed collection of capitation fee by engineering colleges to be illegal and punishable by the Government/University.
It appears that children of NRIs can pay and get seats at Anna University or Government engineering colleges. The amount is fixed by the authorities and is different for different branches. If this is not capitation fee what else is?
